The charts, then, now, confusing...

Having only been alive eighteen years, I can't say anything from experience but it seems like the gulf between music that gets into the charts and nme type 'alternative' music has been growing. 30ish years ago, acts like Japan, Depeche Mode, and Soft Cell all seemed to get fairly high in the charts yet now bands resembling these are confined to the pages of very trendy, but relatively obscure, magazines.

For example the new album by the Arctic Monkeys (Suck It and See) is filling the pages of NME yet to listen to Capital FM you'd think guitar music didn't exist.

Well, here I am on the eve of my double exam today with a rather unpleasant sounding period of 'isolation' in between! Fairly confident about maths, not quite so confident about politics.
